Hi everyone, welcome to my first post.  As part of this new project I’ll be taking a self portrait every day, posting the results, and giving background and lighting information for each of the shots.  In this way, I hope to shoot much more than I have been as well as provide some information to the community.

So without further adieu, here’s the first of many:

Lighting:
One beauty dish directly overhead of the ravinshingly handsome subject, one gridded head pointed directly at carefully and meticulously chosen fish. Let’s call the fish Fred. Fred has feelings.

Of note: My tripod wouldn’t go nearly as low as I wanted, so I ended up resting my camera on a sandbag, propped into the right position by 2 Super Nintendo games. So anyone who says those games are obsolete, tell em I said they’re full of it.
