A portrait of a musician, Austin, TX
Brian works at South Austin Music, a local music store and guitar player’s dream. Well, guitar, banjo, bass, any any other stringed instrument you can think of, really! I stopped in on my journey and through town and he was nice enough to make like a model! Brian hails from York, PA but has spent time in bands and as a touring musician. Thanks so much Brian for your time!
The shop was fairly busy when I stopped by so I didn’t have too much time and space to set up, but I made do with what was available. The racks upon racks of guitars were too much to resist! I also had to place the lights in out of the way spots to avoid as much foot traffic as possible while getting the lighting that I wanted. An interesting thing about guitars, though…they’re glossy!! And there was nowhere to setup to place a flag, so there was one unavoidable hot spot on a guitar by his head, but other than that I’m pleased with the result.
For lighting, my standard beauty dish, high and right through a bank or guitars. Also to light the background and give him some separation, there is another strobe fired into a white reflector off camera right. Triggered by Pocket Wizards.
